Gaming and Geekdom

Yeah, I admit it. I'm a full-fledged geek. Computers, videogames, Star Trek, Dungeons and Dragons, Live Action Role Playing...I've got my tendrils wrapped around it all.I've built my own computer, I've gone to conventions, I've run games at conventions, I've sewn my own dice bags. I even served on the executive board for the Brooklyn College Science Fiction and Fantasy Club for some number of semesters. I'm steeped in the geek world, and I'm proud of it. If I don't get my monthly LARPing and D&D fixes, I'm liable to go insane.

I'm co-running an elaborately planned D&D Eberron campaign with my friend Anthony. It's a tabletop and LARP fusion D&D game with 8 players, one hell of a plot, and plans for a second (larger) installment, as well as a future D&D LARP.

My currently active characters:
Drie Xen'Darria: My Drow Elf Cleric in my friend Chris's Mercutia D&D campaign. She's on hiatus for interparty reasons (never mix a Drow and a Paladin in your adventuring party, kids!)
Kit Goldleaf: While Drie is on hiatus, I picked up a Halfling Rogue in the same game. She's got the personality of a pixie on crack.

My retired characters:
Sophia Emerson: My LARP character in Gotham Knights, a campaign run by my friends Cris and Neil, based on White Wolf's Changeling: The Dreaming.
Cassidy Thorne-Hoffer: My Malkavian in Gotham Nights, a Vampire LARP that ended in 2005.
Andrea Thomas: My last LARP character before Sophie, Andy was a Nocker who I decidedly dropped because she got too bitchy for my tastes.
Rooke: A Changeling Rogue in the last D&D game I played in. It was an Eberron campaign that was never finished.

As of January 2007, there are two non-Camarilla Club LARPs that are active among my friend circle: Icarus Chronicles, a Mortals LARP run by Ken Semeraro, and Dark Ages, a Vampire LARP run by Olga Kogan and Matt Blank. I'm taking a break from LARPing lately, though. As it is, the D&D game I run takes up a bit of time. We're merging D&D with LARP, which is turning out to be an interesting experience. I'm also working on getting my B.A. and figuring out what I'm going to do post-college. So yeah. I don't know if I'll have the time to devote to a full on LARP for a while now.

Lets see now, other kinds of games...well, I'd rather not list the whole shebang, but I am currently obsessed with Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, The Longest Journey, Gaia Online (sn:Drewskid), Puzzle Pirates (sn:Jasmineleaf, Midnight Ocean), Starcraft/Broodwar, and Fable when I have the time for them all.

2007 Conventions:
I will most likely be attending Dragon*Con this year.
