About the Photographer:
I've always been fascinated with artistic photographs. That's not to say I don't take snapshots - everyone does. But I look at photography not so much as "taking a picture", but trying and find the best composition within my frame. To me, a photograph is less about capturing the moment, and more about stopping time to take a closer look at the details. I like to try and see the more artistic side of photography, where we can begin to feel the image rather than just see it. Either the image is "caught" within the frame, or it seeps out in mysterious ways. It can be bright or dark, sharp or blurry, meaningful or nonsensical.
It can be difficult in a split second to decide what angle you want, where to shoot, what meaning you wish to convey, before your object or moment is lost. Especially if you like to capture candid moments, as I do. I try to vary my methods and carry my digital camera with me everywhere I go, because you never know when you'll stumble upon visual gold.
As you'll note, my portfolio is very varied. I like to try and find little bits of smiles and beauty wherever I go, so I can share them with others and say, "See? The world isn't entirely a lost cause!"
